Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday Oct. 30. 2017 at 10 am from Our Lady of the Abingtons Church 700 W Main St, Dalton with  Rev. Arbogaste Satoun. Rodolf William Velicky (Bill), 89, of Factoryville. He died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family in the early hours of Oct. 26, 2017 after a brief struggle with cancer.

Bill was born to Louis and Anna Baca Velicky on June 27, 1928 in Belleville, NJ and was brother to Helen Velicky (deceased). Bill leaves behind his loving wife, Zora Velicky. They were married for 63 years.

Surviving are his children, William Velicky, Janet Velicky Brown, Michaelann Velicky, and David H. Velicky. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Hannah LeVasseur, Connor Brown, Mary Brown, and Hunter Velicky.

Bill was a graduate of Seton Hall University in N.J., a member of the N.J. National Guard, and a lifetime employee of the U.S. Government as a research scientist at Picatinny Arsenal in N.J. He was a duly elected member of The Scientific Research Society of North America. Bill, also, received an official commendation from the U.S. Military Academy of West Point N.Y. for his outstanding research accomplishments.

Bill raised his family in the town of Montville, N.J. He was dedicated to his scientific career and was passionate about gardening and camping with his family. Bill and Zora retired and spent nearly 30 years in Factoryville.  Devoted to participating in the life of his community throughout his life, Bill served his parish, Our Lady of the Abingtons, in countless ways. He opened the church doors most days, served as Extraordinary Minister, as Altar Server and as a member of the Bereavement Committee.  He served the community for many years delivering Meals on Wheels.  He visited the sick and those in prison.
