Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Dalton United Methodist Church,125 S. Turnpike Rd. Dalton at 12:00 PM.

Calling hours will be held at the church from 10:00 AM til service time.

Interment at Abington Hills Cemetery.

Richard W. Stark, 91, Dalton, died at home on Friday.

Born May 1, 1926, son of the late Dexter and Alice Sherman Stark of West Nicholson.  He was the husband of Mary K. McGrath Stark having celebrated 67 years of marriage.

He graduated from Dalton High School prior to serving in World War II. He was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church and an active member of the Dalton Community Library where he served on the board of the Friends of the Library. He worked in outdoor recreational vehicle sales and as an independent truck driver prior to his retirement.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening. He especially loved his family and celebrating holidays at their home and summers at a family-owned camp in the Adirondacks.

Also surviving are their children, Carol Stemrich (John), Scott Township; Richard D. Stark, Port Charlotte, FLA; Christopher Stark (Debbie) Clarks Summit; Philip Stark (Kathy), Dalton and Mary A. Justis (Garmon), Dalton and eight grandchildren, Jennifer Bardzel, Tom Stemrich, Carrie Stemrich, Abigail LeClair (Pierre); Sarah Stark (fiancé Nolan), Philip Stark (Kate), David Stark (Myranda), Shane Justis and one great granddaughter, Maci.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy and a grandson, Michael Stemrich.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Dalton United Methodist Church,125 S. Turnpike Rd. Dalton at 12:00 PM.

Interment at Abington Hills Cemetery.

 

The family would like to thank the Dalton Fire Company, Dalton United Methodist Church, Our Lady of the Abingtons and the local community members for their love and support.

 

I lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dalton United Methodist Church.
