Rev. Michael J. Kirwin officiating. Friends may call at the funeral
home 10:30 until service time. Interment with Military honors at Chase

Anthony John Stugus, 97, of Fleetville died Saturday morning Aug.20,
2016 at his home. Born May 9, 1919 in Scranton; the son of the late
Frank and Petrone Stugus.  Anthony and his wife the former Veronica
Andrejco celebrated their 66 wedding anniversary on July 15.
An avid baseball player and fan, even having a tryout with the
Brooklyn Dodgers, enjoyed bowling. Loved the outdoors, hunting and
fishing and was especially proud of his grandsons becoming Eagle Scouts.
He attended Benton Schools. He served our country proud in the U.S
Navy during W.W.II.  in the Pacific Theater. A member of International
Union of Operating Engineers local 542 Wilkes-Barre for over 50 years
and formerly working at Masters Concrete and Sproul Construction.
Member of St. John Vianney Parish-Corpus Christi Church, Scott Twp.
Charter member of the Fleetville Fire Company. Founding member of the
Benton Lions Club. A member of the Nicholson Lodge #438 F &A.M.  A
member of the Chase Cemetery Association.

 

The family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful caring professionals at Traditional Home Health Care & Hospice: Shirley, Renee, Carol, Terry, Diane, Joann, Chris and especially his granddaughter Elizabeth everyone else that showed love and care to Tony.

Preceded in death by a sister Ann A. Wells and a brother Joseph Stugus
Surviving beside his wife are two children a daughter Mary Pat Saxton
and a son John Anthony Stugus Sr.  Four grandchildren Tony Saxton of
Fleetville, Elizabeth Ann Wedlock of Peckville, John Anthony Stugus Jr
of Clarks Summit and Scott Saxton of Doylestown, six great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
