Bernard J. Wierbowski, 86, of Falls passed away suddenly at home on January 18th.  Bernie was born in West Pittston on Jan. 10, 1936 to the late Benjamin and Mary Salus Wierbowski.

Bernie was a graduate of the West Pittston High School where he was an excellent Football player dubbed the Galloping Ghost by area sports writers.  Bernie went on to play for Michigan State under a full scholarship until he had a career ending knee injury. Bernie was married to the former Edna Reeves for 65 years.  Bernie was a welder by trade and worked for Garwood, Stauffer, Elliott, Polaron, and finally retiring at 70 from Karnel.

Bernie loved to hunt and fish with his grandson Mike, play pool, horseshoes, guitar and spend time with family. He was easy going, kind, compassionate and quick with a joking comeback.  Bernie will be terribly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents Bernie is preceded in death by two sisters: Bernadine and infant Mary Wierbowski.

In addition to his wife Bernie is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Bialy and husband Leonard of Falls, and Andrea Meyers and husband George of Tunkhannock, a brother Thomas Wierbowski of Mansfield, grandchildren: Michael Macheska and wife Amy of Dover, DE, Amanda Bialy and Fiancé Brendon Harris, Falls, and great grandchildren Lily and Wyatt Macheska.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday Jan. 24th at 10am from the Church of the Holy Redeemer 2435 State Route 92 Falls, PA 18615. If you are attending the mass go directly to the church. A viewing will be held Sunday Jan. 23rd at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock from 5-7pm.  Interment will be private for immediate family at the Roberts Cemetery Falls. COVID protocols in place; Masks preferred.
