Carlene Roberts Anthony

She fought the good battle and proved herself a warrior of the highest order. Carlene Roberts Anthony passed away on February 22, 2017 surrounded in love by her family. Carlene worked hard all her days to make a good life for her family. Most recently she worked 13 years for Excel in Tunkhannock. She also worked for at Natona Mills, Dallas, PA. She provided shelter, sustenance, and a caring heart full of love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to make sweet and dill pickles from scratch, then share them with family and friends. She had a big heart; a gentle, kind and loving heart.


Born in Kingston, PA, Sept. 24, 1952, Carlene was the daughter of the late Carl and Evelyn Roberts from Tunkhannock Highway in Dallas, PA. Carlene was preceded in death by her son, Jason; Surviving is her daughter, Tracey Rankosky, and spouse, Dave, Louisville, Kentucky and her daughter-in-law Melissa Anthony, Tunkhannock; she is also survived by her grandchildren Amanda Anthony and Arthur Jones, grandchildren Charlie Jones, Korie Jones and Levi Jones Baker. Also surviving: sisters Janet Roberts, Hiram, Georgia and Beverly Roberts Salas, spouse Glen, Albuquerque, NM.


Carlene attended Dallas High School, Class of 1971.  She loved horses and on many days could be found atop her favorite horse galloping across the fields outside Centermoreland, her hair flying in the wind, her children and nieces trotting behind. Big hearted and children-oriented, Carlene coached softball for many years; she was also a Girl Scout Leader.


Carlene wishes to be cremated and to have her ashes spread throughout her beautiful flower gardens at 117 Pine Ridge Road, Tunkhannock, PA 18657.  A celebration of her life will be held in late spring.
