Charlotte Button

Charlotte Button, 90, of Springville passed away surrounded by her family at the Sacred Heart Hospice on Oct. 25, 2023.  She was born in Bristol Pa on Oct. 12, 1933, and she was the daughter of the late former Mildred Mershawn and Russell Booz.  She said she would never marry a farmer having been brought up on a farm but found contentment and happiness when she married the late Malcolm D. Button a handsome, quit of a man in 1969.

She was a graduate of the Bristol High School in 1951 and the Pa Hospital of Nursing in 1954, earning her degree as an RN.

Charlotte worked in St. Mary’s Hospital while living in Rochester NY, she also worked as a substitute nurse in an oral surgeon’s office while raising her 4 children.

In 1966 she moved to Springville, and she worked at Whispering Pines Nursing, Susquehanna County Home, and later she worked as a Geriatric nurse.

Charlotte’s first love was her family.  Having been an only child her family came first.  She was a member of the Springville Ladies Auxiliary and she helped out at the Springville Clothes Closet.  She enjoyed traveling especially when she took a cruise to Alaska and other bus trips.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Graham.

She is survived by her sons; Thomas and Debbie Graham of Factoryville, Bill Graham of Factoryville, James Button of Sandy Creek, a daughter Mary Beth Staff of Nicholson, grandchildren; Alea Button, Syracuse, NY, Malcolm Button, Boston, Allen Graham, Scranton, Miryah and Justen Hummel of Nicholson, Malcolm staff Nicholson, and Noah Staff North Carolina, great grandchildren; Kloey Mae, Clint and Kathy.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 5pm from the Springville United Methodist Church 12112 PA-3004, Springville, PA 18844 with Pastor John Shaffer officiating.  A viewing will be held at the church from 3:30pm until the time of the service.  Interment will be held on Monday at 10am at the Sunnyside Cemetery.  For online condolences or direction visit www.aplitwinfuneralhomes.com  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Springville United Methodist Church.
