Daniel Kenia

Daniel P. Kenia, Sr., 70, of German Hill, died Wednesday morning at his home. He was born June 3, 1944 in Meshoppen the son of the late Anthony and Dorothy Martin Kenia. Daniel and his wife Karen Scranta got married on Dec. 12, 1992. Dan graduated Tunkhannock High School in 1962; he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wilkes College. Achievements that Dan was particularly proud of was being elected to the National Athletic Honor Society serving as co-captain on Keystone baseball team. Elected to membership in PHI THETA KAPPA and Sigma Tau Scholastic honor fraternities and passing the C.P.A Examination on his first sitting in November 1968. He had an accounting practice in Tunkhannock for 40 yrs and a partner /owner of Stonehedge Golf Course. Dan also served on the board of St. Michaels School. Dan enjoyed golfing, baseball, ice hockey, hunting, fishing and tennis. He was a loving husband, father and brother throughout his life and still today. The concepts of a closely knit family was always prevalent Surviving are three brothers Francis and wife Ging-Han Kenia, Gerald Kenia and Tony Kenia all of Tunkhannock. Children: Daniel Jr., and wife Monica Kenia of Falls, Derek Kenia of Scranton, Michele and Walt Garey of Tunkhannock, Beth and Jack Elvidge of Harding, Erica-Kenia of NYC, Shannon Ingebright of Seattle. Grandchildren; Millicent and Edward Wayno of Hazleton, Walt Garey JR. of Montrose, Nathan Garey of Florida, and Adam Elvidge and Jason Elvidge of Harding, and Monique, Rachel and Ashley Kenia of Falls. Great Grand Children Peyton Garey, Reilly and Adalynn Wayno. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 11am from the St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church Dalton Rd Lake Winola with Father Richard J. Polmounter officiating. A viewing will be held Sunday from 4pm until 8pm at Stonehedge Country Club 287 German Hill Rd Factoryville. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Twp.
