Obituaries
July 8, 1934 - September 3, 2024 Ellen June Clark Harris, age 90, passed away on Tuesday morning after a long illness. Born in Lemon, she was the daughter of the late Jay Gould Clark Sr. and Ethel Sophia Tripp Clark. In her professional years, she served as an administrative assistant for the Tunkhannock Area School District and in her earlier years assisted her husband Walter, in the office at the A&P Grocery Store. She was an avid traveler and loved the beach especially the Outer Banks. She would look forward to traveling each year to a special destination and loved the anticipation of the trip and prepared by reading maps of her intended journey. She would say that the anticipation would bring her as much joy as the actual trip itself. Quite often she was planning the next trip before the current one had ended. She said we always needed something to look forward to in life. Ellen loved music and upon entering her home you’d often be greeted with the voices of Jimmy Buffet, Bruce Springsteen, or Eddie Arnold to name a few. Surviving are her three children, Walter ‘Tom’ Harris (Susan). Tim Harris (Melody) and Jennifer Williamson (Ted). Five grandchildren, Scott Harris, Michael Harris, Matt Harris, Skye Yvonne Williamson, Luc Williamson and one great grandchild, Daisy Harris She was preceded in death by her husband Walter and her daughter Yvonne Ellen. As a young girl, Ellen frequented the Tunkhannock Library where she could “travel the world” and she did just that. Each week her mother would take her and her sister to select books that she would enjoy. She was an avid reader all her life and in later years as her illness progressed, she frequently read the most powerful book, the Bible. Ellen was strong in her faith and as children it was deeply instilled in us. Most of all she was the best mother and wife and always put her family first above all else. She was one of the kindness most elegant women you’d ever meet and will be missed by all that knew her. On many summer days you would see her sitting on her porch swing. Our hope is that Ellen is dancing in heaven and sitting with one of her favorites, Jimmy Buffet, who is” Strumming his six string on his front porch swing and you are sitting right by him enjoying that frozen concoction. Until the next time when we all join you on the trip of a lifetime. The family would like to thank Elan Skilled Nursing and end of life care provided by Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. A private funeral service will be held by the immediate family Interment at Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock PA.
