Frances V. Hemmerly, 84, of Mehoopany went to the loving arms of the lord on Wednesday Aug.19th 2015, at the Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center, Dallas.  Frances was born in Staten Island on Nov. 13th 1930; the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta  Vazzana. Frances married Sterling C. Hemmerly on Nov. 22nd 1953.  Frances worked in the maintenance department at the Tunkhannock Area High School. In the 1970’s She and Sterling owned and operated the Village Coffee Shoppe in Mehoopany. She worked as a secretary for a collection agency in New Jersey and had several other jobs prior to that.
She was a graduate of McKee High School, a member at Nativity B.V.M Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.  Frances was a member of the Red Hat Society and until recently, an active member of the Wyoming County Senior Citizen Center. Frances enjoyed going on trips, playing cards, gardening, cooking, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents Frances is preceded in death by a daughter Dianne Hemmerly and two sisters Alfina Orloff and Theresa Hannay.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters Linda Hemmerly of Agawam, Mass, Lori Posten and Jeff Youells of Falls, Jocetta Brown and husband Randy of Auburn, and an (adopted daughter) Cynthia Krym of Agawam Mass.  Seven grandchildren Daralyn Carr and husband Snapper of Laceyville, Matthew VanDeMark and wife Bridget of Auburn, Eric VanDeMark, Michelle VanDeMark, and Chris Anthony Brown, all of Old Forge, Nicholas Brown and wife Alexis of Austin TX, and Randi-Jo Neipp and husband Kirt of Columbia S.C.  Ten Great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock 99 E. Tioga St. on Sat. Aug. 22nd at 10:00 AM, with Father Patrick Albert officiating. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be at the Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Family and friends may call Friday Aug. 21 from 6-8pm at the Harding-Litwin Funeral home 123 W.
