A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 13th at 9:30am at Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit.  Msgr. Joseph G. Quinn, pastor, will be the celebrant.  Friends may call on Wednesday, 5-8pm at Anthony P. Litwin J. Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 Reynolds St., Factoryville.

James Michael Phillips, 61, of Nicholson died Sunday at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton.

Born in Scranton on Feb. 17, 1957 the son of the late Robert J. Phillips and Elizabeth Connolly Whitney of Dalton.  James married his wife Christine “Tina” Arscott on July 22, 1977.

James was of Catholic faith, enjoyed working at the Scranton Times for a total of 28 years as a Circulation Director for the last nine years, member of the Scranton Times downtown Federal Credit Union,  loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking long walks outside.

Surviving are his two daughters Sara Davies of Factoryville and Carrie Vanko and her husband Tony of Nicholson. Two sons James of Dalton and Jeffrey and his wife Alissa of Dalton. Nine grandchildren Mary Margaret, Hannah, Kayla, James, Elle Anthony, Nolan, Wyatt and Greyson Brothers and sisters Robert Phillips, Kathi Whitney, Joseph Phillips, April Scheller, Scot Whitney, Patricia Dippre, Michael Phillips, Elizabeth Ann Gallagher, Peter Whitney, Lawrence Phillips, Jeffrey Phillips, Wade Whitney, Mark Phillips, Mary Kathleen Rodenbach, Matthew Whitney.
