L. Lee Posten, 83, of Tunkhannock, went home to his lord and savior on Tuesday Oct. 12, 2021, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton after a long battle with skin cancer. He was born in Auburn Township, Susquehanna County on Jan. 31, 1938, son of the late Lester J. and Helen E. Woodruff Posten.
For several years he worked at First Citizens National Bank and then at the Grange Bank. Lee was also Eaton Twp. Treasure and Supervisor; was a Wyoming County Auditor; served on the board for the Wyoming County Cancer Society; baseball coach. When he was younger, he belonged to the Tunkhannock Baptist Church where he served as a youth leader for the Boys’ Brigade; later, he became a member of the Osterhout Bible Church where he served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was also on the board of CEF Child Evangelism Fellowship of Wyoming and Sullivan Counties.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great granddaughter Eliza Rae Posten; nephew, Eric Youngbluth.
Surviving are his wife, Valla Bell Posten, they just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on Oct. 3, 2021; three sons, Rory and Carolyn of Mehoopany, Jeffrey and Lisa of Meshoppen, David and Marcy of Tunkhannock; brother, LeRoy Posten, of Tunkhannock; sister, Lillian and her husband Fred Youngbluth of Hopewell Junction, NY; his favorite Aunt Mary Button of Tunkhannock 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 at 11am from the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Pastor Brian Williams, Pastor of the Osterhout Bible Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming County Cancer Society 8 Iron Wood St. Tunkhannock PA 18657.
