Leon “Leo” Stencel, 91 of Westminster, CO died March 2, 2025. Born in Norwich, CT on August 21, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Magdelena Dudek Stencel. Leo married the former Kathryn Walton in 1959.

He graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1950 then went on to serve in the United States Army from 1953 to 1957. Leo resided in Factoryville, PA from 1962 to 1993; Tunkhannock, PA from 1993 to 2013; then finally at Westminster, CO from 2013 to 2025. He was employed at Keystone Jr. College, La Plume, PA from 1962 to 1977; Trane Corporation, in Dunmore, PA from 1977 to 1992; then retiring from Clean Air Group, in Clarks Summit, PA from 1992 to 1999.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Factoryville, PA; Served the church and community in various functions: Deacon, Chairman of Pulpit Committees, Boy Scout Adult leader, etc. Enjoyed learning new skills as he built our first home, gardening, hiking, skiing, canoeing, wilderness camping from Canada to Mexico. Traveling to California to visit grandchildren was always special. Visited 48 states and 9 European countries and Korea and Japan.

Predeceased by parents Joseph and Magdelena Dudek Stencel, brothers John and Stephen Stencel, sisters Helen Higham, Sophie Trojanowski, Judy Jolly, Jean Stencel, 5 nieces and 3 nephews.

Survived by daughter Lorene Szajkowski (Steve), son Nicholas (Jody) Stencel, grandchildren Kelly Stencel, Jake Stencel, brother Joseph Stencel, 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
