Lucille S Ulrich,99, of West Abington Twp, died on April 23, 2025 at Regional Hosp of Scranton. Born in Dalton on August 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Clara Armstrong Sweet. She was preceded in death by her husband William Q Ulrich in 1984 and her brother Robert Sweet, Wyalusing in 2013.
Lucille raised her family in the Dalton and suburban Philadelphia areas and was active in the community. She enjoyed sewing, making many of her daughters’ clothes as well as draperies and slipcovers for their home. She was employed in the Nicholson Livestock Auction office and was office manager at Richards Bus Service, Dalton. She was an active participant of the Dalton HS Reunion Committee in later years.
Lucille maintained a Sunday morning family switchboard, collected vintage glass syrup pitchers and enjoyed walking.
Always seeming younger than her years, she inspired several generations by riding motorbikes in her 60’s, hot air ballooning in her 70’s, scrambling down the bank’s of the Schuylkill in her 80’s and mowing her large lawn on her riding mower well into her 90’s. Wherever she went, she left people giggling. She shared her wisdom with her family: “if you can’t have fun, go take a nap” and “I like clouds”, demonstrating her imagination relating to nature.
She especially enjoyed her front porch visiting with family and friends in nearly all weather.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Conklin (Dean) Lewisburg and Susan Sheerin (John) of Peckville. Grandsons Douglas Conklin (Maria) of Niskayuna, NY and Gregg Conklin (Elizabeth) of Montgomery Village, MD; great grandchildren Dylan,Tucker, Abigail & Sawyer; two great-great grandchildren.
