Marian E. Shaw, age 91, passed away on November 30 at the Abington Manor, Clarks Summit, Pa., where she had been wonderfully cared for since March, 2014. Marian was born in Tunkhannock on November 18, 1924, and graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1942 with her future husband, Arthur, whom she married in 1946, after his service in World War II, in the Pacific.
Marian worked in Tunkhannock at several businesses as a secretary, and she and Art owned and operated a gas station/grocery store on Tioga Street for many years. Her last job was her favorite, teachers’ aide/recess monitor for the second grade at Roslund Elementary School in Tunkhannock.
She is survived by sons Thomas, Tunkhannock, and William and wife, Janet, Lake Winola, and grandchildren Jessica L. Shaw, Los Angeles, CA and Daniel S. Shaw, New York, NY. She also is survived by sisters-in-law, Mary Tripp, Dorothy Shaw, Jean Loomis and Lois Shaw and brother-in-law Edward Shaw, together with 17 nieces/nephews.
Marian was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, sisters Muriel Sherman and Irene Solanick, parents Clifford and Audrey Eustice and sister-in-law Ruth Davis, brothers-in-law Charles Shaw, Irving Loomis, and Luther Davis.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Gay Irwin at the Lake Winola United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on December 21. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
