Mary Jane Cooper, 95, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away in Tunkhannock on July 21, 2022.  She was born in Mercedes Texas on March. 8, 1927 and she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Spencer Howze.  Mary was married to the late Stanley J. Cooper on Aug. 8, 1945.

She worked at Penn Millers Insurance Company, was a member of the Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, an ordained elder, and a youth group advisor.  Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her sister Betty Keeton and husband Jim, Dorothy L.  Blackman husband Burl, brother James Howze and wife Sherilyn, niece Kerry and husband Joe Vaughn and a niece Donna Blackman.

She is survived by her son David Cooper and wife Karen of Tunkhannock, grandchildren: Glenn, Sarah Smith, Brandi Cooper, great grandchildren Kaylin, Glenn, Jr., Alice and Emily Cooper and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Monday July 25th at 1:30pm at the Maple Hill Cemetery 68 E St Mary’s Rd, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18706

A viewing will be held Monday July 25th from 11-12 noon at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, Pa.

Interment will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery.
