Robert L. Stevens Sr., “Snevets”, 90, of Tunkhannock, PA, died Friday August 7, 2015 surrounded by family at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 27th 1925, the son of the late Edgar C. and Ethel Lewis Henrie Stevens. He was husband to the former Katharine Garman Lamme of Tunkhannock.  He graduated University of Pittsburgh College of Pharmacy, member of Kappa PSI Pharmaceutical Fraternity.
Bob was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army from February 1945 to June 1946 as a Military Policeman, 94th Infantry Division, 301st Regiment. His unit was heavily involved in efforts to destroy the Siegfried Switch Line, guarding the Third Army’s lane to the heart of Nazi Germany. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
He was proprietor and pharmacist of Henrie’s Drug Store, Tunkhannock, and Vice President of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was former President of the Tunkhannock Area School Board and member of: Luzerne/Wyoming County Mental Health Board, Tunkhannock Borough Municipal Authority, Luzerne County E.M.S, Luzerne Intermediate Unit, Tunkhannock Kiwanis Club,  Free and Accepted Order of Masons and a 32 Degree Shriner. Bob was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame in 2008 for voting in every November election for at least 50 consecutive years.
Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He and his wife liked to travel, including China, Egypt, Europe, Morocco, South/Central America and RV USA. He particularly enjoyed an anniversary cruise to Bermuda with spouse and all 6 kids. But a favorite trip was the annual Labor Day fishing trip down the Susquehanna River from Athens to Tunkhannock with close buddies and son Robert.
In addition to his parents,  Bob is preceded in death by his aunt Jane B. Henrie and his brother Edgar C. Stevens. In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by one son, Robert L. Stevens Jr. and wife Maria of Tunkhannock, and five daughters; Andrea S. Rail and husband Jim of Tunkhannock, Leslie E. Stevens and husband Neil Dorflinger of East Stroudsburg, Kim S. Kolstad and husband Armand of Billings, Montana,  Robin S. Evans of Trucksville, and Meredith L. Stevens of Shavertown. Twelve grandchildren;  Karim Olaechea, Sarah Dorflinger Marquis, Andrew Dorflinger, Christian Dorflinger, Katie Kolstad Clifton, Mark Evans, Tyler Evans, Robert J. Stevens, James Galasso IV, Megan Galasso, Kathryn Galasso, and Matthew Galasso.  Three great-grandchildren;  Molly Marquis, Grace Marquis, and Carter Clifton, and his beloved Golden Retriever, Happy.
