Thomas E. Batterton, 96, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015. Born in 1919 in Wilkes Barre he was the son of the late Albert Batterton and Frances (Hofsomer) Batterton Davies.
He attended Wilkes Barre School Systems and served in the US Navy both during WWII and the Korean War as a demolition expert, receiving the Korean War Medal. Upon returning he worked in various fields including but not limited to electrician. He found his niche working with the public as a top notch bartender for many of the best establishments in New Jersey. He retired after 30 yrs. from the prestigious Lahiere’s French Restaurant in Princeton, NJ.
Upon the death of his wife of 53 yrs. Mildred in 1993 his daughter Tami moved him to Florida where she lives to be with her. Tom thrived in FL enjoying all life had to offer in retirement. He loved woodworking and refinishing furniture. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. Tom loved to garden and especially loved all the cats and dogs that came through his life over the years. Many happy years were spent at Lake Carey.
Tom was preceded in death by his brother Albert, sister Mary Laity and her husband David J. and his best friend and step father of 46 yrs. Theophilus Davies Jr. of Harveys Lake.
Thomas is survived by his daughter Susan C. Batterton of Ecuador, SA formerly of Lansdale, PA and his daughter Tami and her husband Wayne Dickinson of Florida and Tunkhannock, sister in law Jane Anne Weist of Delaware and several nieces and nephews.
