William “Bill” Cresswell, 81, of Dalton died Friday morning (1/22/2016) at Dunmore Health Care Center. Born in Dalton on Jan. 25, 1934; the son of the late Grant and Frances Radle Cresswell. His wife of 56 years is the former Marilyn Van Fleet.
A graduate of Dalton High School, Keystone College, and Syracuse University, Bill owned and operated Cresswell Drilling Co. in Dalton until his retirement in 1990. Served on the board of directors of Outdoor Resorts of Melbourne Beach, Fla. Member of Sierra Club, Western Penna Conservancy, Nature Conservancy, NRA; life member of National Wildlife Federation, Masonic Factoryville Lodge No. 341 F & A.M. Enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and working. He took great pride in the successes of his children and grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother Grant.
He is also survived by brothers Dale and wife Barbara of Dalton, and Don and wife Jutta of Shrewsbury, his two daughters Cindi Steve and husband Craig of Dalton, Kelli Stoudnour and husband Eric of Hollidaysburg; a son Scott and wife Cady of Dalton. Ten grandchildren Eric and Alex Steve; Taylor and Hunter Stoudnour; Geoff, Brian and Kendall Cresswell; Lizzy, Cate and Maddie Huggler; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and administration at The Gardens of Green Ridge for the care and compassion they have provided to Bill.
