Alan P. Scango Sr., 82, of Factoryville passed on March 26, 2024 surrounded by his family.  He was born on June 29, 1941 in Throop, Pa to the late Frank and Yolanda Mayo Scango. He married his beloved wife Sharon Hinkley on Oct. 3, 1964, they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.

Alan graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School. He served in the 109 National Guard reserve in Scranton, he received many medals for his excellent marksmanship. Alan retired from P & G Mehoopany with over 29 years of dedication, he was employed in the woodyard operating all types of equipment. He later worked at Elan Gardens in Waverly.

Alan loved hunting with his son Alan Jr.  He was proud of his home and yard. He especially loved cutting his grass with his John Deere tractor. Alan was a jack of all trades and could be found working on all kinds of projects in his garage. He enjoyed hiking and going for rides in his Gator. One of his favorite pastimes was going for car rides in the country side with his wife.

Preceded in death by his brother Frank H. and Sister-in-law Irene S. Scango.

Besides his wife Sharon Scango, Alan is survived by his two children: daughter Sheryl Scango of Factoryville; son Alan and his wife Janice of Factoryville; grandchildren, Sage Hofmeister, Duran Hofmeister and Jacob Scango; brothers, Victor and wife Rose Scango, of Maryland, Mark and wife Darlene Scango of Factoryville. Several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside service will be held at The Nicholson Cemetery.
