Carl E. Dolechek, Jr., 30, of Nicholson, lost the battle he bravely fought against the demon of addiction.   He passed away on September 2, 2018, at Tyler Memorial Hospital Tunkhannock.

CJ was born on Scranton on March 22, 1988.  He was the son of Cynthia L. Barnhill Dolechek and Carl E. Dolechek, Sr. of Nicholson.

CJ was so much more than an addict.  His sensitivity and loving nature, the source of a great deal of compassion, was also a source of much anguish.  He enjoyed writing poetry and stories.  CJ was an amazing artist, drawing cartoons and creating road sign collages.  CJ was known to be the “life of the party,” entertaining with stories or with his unique dance.

Wherever he went, CJ had his fingerboards or hacky sacks with him.  But, most of all, he loved to bike.

He was tolerant, understanding, kind and thoughtful.  Addiction is painful.  It causes feelings of shame and guilt not just for the actions it creates but also for losses in the battle against it.

In addition to his parent, CJ is survived by his sister Kathryn E. Dolechek, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
