Irene Hayduk

Irene D. Hayduk, 85, of Factoryville died Sunday at Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA, Scranton. Born in Dickson City on July 10, 1929 the daughter of the late August and Kathryn A. Bogdonovich Dolechek Sr.. Irene was married on November 26, 1948 to her late husband George Hayduk. who died February 26, 2004. They were married for 56 blissful years and built a beautiful life together. Irene belonged to the Church of Our Lady of the Abingtons, Dalton. Irene spent 27 years working as the office secretary at Lackawanna Trail High School. She took pride in what she did, and loved working with the faculty and students that she considered family. Irene was extremely selfless and volunteered for her Church and the Lupus Foundation of PA. Irene was a generous, kind, loving, and compassionate mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family, who her life revolved around. Sunday afternoons was spent having family dinners and her grandchildren could always find her smiling face in the sport’s stands and theater audience. She shared many fond memories with her sisters and friends playing bingo, going on weekend trips, movies, and dinner dates. Irene loved to reminisce about her life; especially her childhood spent in Starlight, PA. She will be deeply missed by all of those that knew her. She is preceded in death by her brother August Dolechek Jr. Irene is survived by two sons George D. Hayduk and his wife Sherry of Factoryville and Paul Hayduk of Mehoopany and a daughter Sandra Spott and her husband Matthew of Factoryville. Two grandsons: Matthew Spott, Scottsdale AZ and Adam Spott, Orlando, FL and two granddaughters Amanda Smulek and her husband Joseph, Clark Summit and Sarah Hayduk, Factoryville. One brother Robert Dolechek of Oregon; two sisters Agnes Aten and Kathryn Beck both of Factoryville. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10am from the Church of Our Lady of the Abington’s 700 W. Main St, Dalton with Father Thomas Petro, Pastor Emeritus Jack Kilpatrick and Pastor Emeritus Joseph Boles officiating. Friends may call at Anthony P. Litwin Jr. Funeral Homes 33 Reynolds St. Factoryville on Tuesday from 4-7pm. Interment will be at St. Michaels Cemetery, Nicholson Twp.
