Friends may call at the funeral home from 9am to 11am. Interment at Orcutt’s Grove Cemetery, Noxen. Memorial Contributions may be made to Donor’s favorite charity.

John J. Brody, 87, of Monroe Twp. died Monday evening February 5, 2024, at Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas. Born in Eaton Twp. on December 25, 1936; the son of the late Micheal and Jennie Baroody Brody. His wife of 65 years is the former Marilyn Harding.

John belonged to the Tunkhannock Baptist and then Northmoreland Baptist Church where he served at each as treasurer. He served his country in the Army Reserves; worked as a cost estimator at Bendix for 30yrs; and as tax collector for Monroe Twp. for 20yrs. He enjoyed raising strawberries and cutting firewood to sell. As a youth he could always be found on a ball field. He played for Jenks at first base in the Tri County Baseball League and later played many years of softball. He coached little league baseball along with women’s softball and volleyball. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with his family.

John was preceded in death by two brothers Micheal Jr. and George; two sisters Alice Spencer and Louise Jadick.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children Roy (Joan) of Tunkhannock, Linda (Joe) Lawler of Tunkhannock and Jeanne (George) Anderson of Monroe Twp.; brother, James Brody of Monroe Twp.; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
