Joseph Paul Leon, 22, of Tunkhannock passed away on Sept. 5, 2018.  He was born June 20, 1996 in Syracuse, NY and he was the son of Jessica Joyce Leon.  Joey was a 2014 graduate of the Tunkhannock High School and he worked at Samario’s.

Joey grew up as a playful, sensitive, kind and loving soul and until he found his tribe, he was very quiet and shy. He was a natural athlete and enjoyed being a part of the Tunkhannock baseball and football team for many years. Joey graduated highschool in 2014 with his friends who he thought of as family. His friends and loved ones were most important to him. He spent his time singing, dancing, and making people laugh. Joey loved music, animals, being in nature, adventure and lived to have fun. He put everyone’s needs before his own needs and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He dreamed of travelling the world and helping others and was a beautiful closet poet. Joey recently found his passion for reading, expression through drawing, and wanted to be a tattoo artist. Even though Joey struggled in life, he possessed this handsome, inviting charm that made anyone he spoke to feel valued, connected, and accepted. His gemini personality showed two different sides of him to the world but he stayed true to who he was always being himself. Anyone who knew him would say he had the biggest heart and a pure soul. No one will forget his infectious smile, laugh, bright blue eyes and every memory made in his life. Joey will forever be gone but will never be forgotten. His essence will live on in the hearts of all those who love him.

In addition to his mother Joe is survived by his brothers Wayne Sweeting of Abington and Robert Mead III of Meshoppen.  Grandparents Elaine Leon and Joseph Mazi of Cleveland NY, and an uncle Jason Leon and wife Jennifer of Cleveland NY, girl friend Kyonna McClain of Tunkhannock, and a best friend Keith Neilson of Tunkhannock, cousins Jason, Rochelle, and Aleah Leon of Cleveland, NY.

Funeral service will be held at 7pm Sunday at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W.
