Well-known businessman, musician, and artist, Mark J. Hinkley of Nicholson peacefully ended this worldly journey with his family by his side on June 27, 2021 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Mark was born August 27, 1953 to his mother Margaret Spathelf Hinkley and the late Raymond L Hinkley.

Mark was a 1971 graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School. A talented baseball player, Mark was an All-Star pitcher for the Christy Matthewson League.

Mark loved all kinds of music. A great harmonica player, Mark played with a number of local bands. His favorite harmonica was a B Flat.

He was a collector of many things, including automobiles and musical instruments.  His collection of eyeglasses and hats seemed to be endless. We never knew what he may be donning when showing up to a family event.

His early career included a position at Charmin paper. He quickly realized his entrepreneurial spirit and started his successful building and contracting company, Vinyl is Final, and a large rental real estate business. Mark was also active in local politics, serving mayor of Nicholson for a number of years.

He was a wonderful, loving father to his children Sarah Frank (Rob) of Dayton, Ohio and Dillon Hinkley of Nicholson. He was a proud grandfather of Gracy and Jeffrey Frank of Dayton, Ohio.

Mark was big brother to Christine Phillips (James) of Newark Valley, NY; Linda Baker (Jay Borel) of Schenectady, NY; Kathleen Besaw (Kevin) of Saratoga, NY. Mark was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well.

In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Hinkley and sisters Laurie A. Hunsinger and Patricia Hinkley.

The family suggests donations to the Raymond Hinkley Memorial Scholarship, in loving memory of Mark. Donations can be sent to 9230 SR 3004 Springville, PA 18844.

Mark would surely say, “See ya’ on down the road.”
