Miriam Walton

Miriam Witter Walton, formerly of Factoryville, passed away in Westminster, Colorado, on October 11, 2014. She attained the age of 101 years on May 14. Miriam was born in Berkshire, NY in 1913 and moved with her family to Factoryville in 1931. She met and married her husband of 65 years soon after arriving in town. Miriam worked for the Davis & Jones Insurance Agency, was a member and Past Matron of the Oriental Order of the Eastern Star, and was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Factoryville. She lived independently in her home on Riverside Drive until the age of 94. In later years, Miriam lived with her daughter in Eaton Township; then was a resident of the Methodist Manor in Tunkhannock for a year prior to moving to Colorado in 2013. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Walton, Jr. and son Thomas Witter Walton. She is survived by two daughters: Kathryn “Kay” Stencel and son-in-law Leo, Westminster, CO, and Glenda Jensen, Arvada, CO; four grandchildren: Lorene (Stephen) Szajkowski of Durango, CO, Nicholas (Jody, MD) Stencel, Esq. of Thousand Oaks, CA, Susan Jensen and Kathryn “Kathy” (Shames) Stevens of Arvada, CO; and four great grandchildren: Brittany and Cameron Stevens, and Kelly and Jake Stencel. A memorial service will be held at Anthony P. Litwin Jr. Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 Reynolds St. Factoryville on Nov. 8 at 2:00 PM with the Pastor Paul Fields officiating.
