Paul R Ney, 71, of Tunkhannock, passed away on January 27, 2023.  He was born March 5, 1951.  He was the son of the late Richard and Mary Ney.  Paul was the former business owner of the Beagle Pub  & Eatery here in Tunkhannock, that served the distinct honor as a center of the community for all to gather.

Paul was a graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School, Class of 1970. Paul’s careers led him in many parts of the country, but eventually led him towards his great passion, cooking.  Paul had several other great passions in life.  He loved gardening, golfing, painting and antique hunting.

Paul’s proudest achievement was seeing through his dream of owning his own restaurant.  He was the proud owner of the Beagle for over 20 years.   He loved serving the community, giving back to the town he grew up in.  He enjoyed working along side his family.  So many memories and friendships were made, which he treasured.  The memories are countless, but his favorites were those Friday night happy hours, to those infamous chicken and biscuits.  Each meal he made, was a true honor for him.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Frantz, of Meshoppen; Brother-in-law Jeffery Frantz, of Meshoppen.  Sister, Carol Rice, of Tunkhannock; Brother-in-law Lawrence Rice, of Meshoppen; 3 nieces, Lori Austin, of Tunkhannock; Melisa Frantz, of Meshoppen; Shawn Jagger, of Tunkhannock.

Paul’s wishes were for no services.  We ask this, think of your fondest, happiest memories with Paul and hold on to it.  Simply smile, raise your glass, having had the  honor and privilege, of sharing, even just a moment, which such a special man, brother, uncle and  friend.
