Stephen Jonathan Bell, 73, of Tunkhannock, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, and is now in the loving arms of his Lord Jesus.

He was born September 26, 1947 to the Dr. Harold A. Bell and Dr. Elizabeth A. Green Bell in Allentown, PA. After graduating from Belvidere High School, Belvidere, N.J. in 1965 he attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and lived in the Lehigh Valley area until 1995.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Cassandra (Catherine A Shaffer) Bell.

Stephen was pre-deceased by his parents and brother, David A. Bell and brother-in-law Edward J. Shaffer, Jr.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his in-laws, Edward and Janice Shaffer, stepdaughter Jennifer Ostir (Dave Ide), stepson Brian Streby (Sarah) and step-grandchildren Madison, Anthony and Taryn Ostir, Levin Streby, and Andrew and Krista Dieffenbach and three sisters-in-law, Mary Lu Shaffer, Susan Shaffer, Sara Shaffer-Greene and brother-in-law John Shaffer (Donna).

Shortly after accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior, Stephen was given the gift of poetry and art. He freely shared God’s inspired word with his church family and enjoyed giving his paintings and animal drawings to family and friends. His artistic gifts included singing with the Wyoming County Barbershop Chorus and acting in the Dietrich Theater Productions of “Grapes of Wrath’ and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. He loved being on stage.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on June 16 at 7 p.m. at the Mill City Assembly of God, 167 Mercy Lane, Dalton, PA 18414 with Reverend James Rugg officiating.
